it will be significantly louder but I removed mine on my 1995 disco and it runs great with the exception to this past week when my fuel pump went out......throttle response is a little better, it will have a slightly deeper bellow. your 1996 only has two o2 sensors like mine (OBD1) but be careful when cutting the caddys, the o2's are very very close to the caddys and you do not want to damage the o2 sensors b/c the job will then turn from a money saver to costing you a lot more to get it all situated. I used a smaller diameter pipe in place of the caddys to compensate for any backpressure difference. the pipe sections should fit inside your stock exhaust and make sure an experienced welder does the job! its a tight fit and angles aren't very forgiving.
Also, make sure and get others opinions on this before going out an doing it. Just because my disco has been unaffected doesn't mean its the right thing to do as my 1995 disco doesn't have as many sensors as all the rest so i could be neglecting something.

Your 96 has 4 02's and why would you want to remove them, besides it is against the law and it will cost you in power and mileage.

Aftermarket cats are cheap, just replace them.

I have seen o2 simulators
I also so know spacing the rear o2 out of the main flow can fool the computer
has anyone done this on a disco

Just to clear your statement up, it is against the Federal and most State laws to modify the emission system.

How could someone classify a disco as a race truck?
