Default Small Block Chevy Engine Swap for 2000 Disc II

Does anyone know if there is a west coast shop that does a small block chevy swap for a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II. I have done a ton of custom work to my Disco II but it is terribly underpowered for use in the sandy soil out here in the Las Vegas area. Thanks in advance!!!

no. just diesel swaps which are incredibly expensive. and the less expensive 4.6 swap......

I have the 4.6 and it has a good amount of power.. could use more horses but the torque is all there.

I could of sworn I remember seeing someone posting a link to a site that actually made conversion kits for Land Rover's to run SBC and BBC engines. Who knows though, becuase I don't remember where it was.

I'm still working on the plans to swap over to a Buick 3.8 V6 when my 4.0 blows up.

More power than a SBC stock for stock and better gas mileage.

How much money do you want to spend?[8D]

Its rated 260hp and 280ft/lbs of torque stock. However the motor is basically bullet proof. Intense-Racing and ZZPerformance, the two major 3800 vendors both have a car running 8.6 and 8.7 in the 1/4 mile with stock crank, stock pistons, stock rods, and stock (ported/polished/machined) heads. Of-course that is much more extreme than anything a Disco application needs. I'm just proving a point of the engines durability. At buddy and mine's shop we put a brick on the gas pedal of a car with one of the motors, melted the aluminum exhuast tips off of the car and then drove it to town to go get something to eat. Motor is still running to this day, that was a good 3-4 years ago.

For a Disco application I would say dropping the stock motor in would be more than enough power and torque. However for just another $1,000 you can easily, and safely, be pushing around the 340 hp range.

Not that there is really any need.

In that photo there is about a grand on that motor. Basically all that is there in that picture if the intercooler and a pulley, also some custom 'do it yourself' work. That picture is really old though. Heres what it looks like now.[8D]

Here are picture's of a engine swap into a Disco 1. You will want to look into local emisions and engine swap laws before you start. When you get your emisions test done they plug into your engine computer and they can tell what is under the hood.

How are you planning on handeling the weight and even more important the horse power and torque, Disco's were never built to be race horses and that sort of power is certainly not needed off road.
